Working with Commitment Changes

Once a commitment has been approved, additional funds/line items cannot be added to it. As a project progresses and unforeseen situations need to be accounted for, commitment changes will be needed to adjust to these changes.

  • Commitment changes are an effective way to move money from one contract to another, such as from Contingency to Construction Reimbursable. Create a commitment change with a negative line item to take money out of one area and a positive line item for the same amount to move it. The overall budget amount will not change and you're able to allocate funds to the appropriate areas.
