User and Role Associations
Viewing role associations per user allows you to see the account and project roles that the user belongs to and it gives you the opportunity to make changes if necessary. Accessing this information from the Manage Membership page also gives you the opportunity to view and make changes to project membership and role templates. This is beneficial to ensure that user roles associations are configured as expected.
- Go to the Users Settings.
- Click Manage Users.
- Click the name of the user.
- Click Manage Membership.
- Click the Account Roles tab to view the account roles this user is a member of.
- Click the Project Roles tab and make a selection from the Roles drop-down menu to view the project roles this user is a member of.
If a user is in the same role on both the account and project levels, the account role will take precedence, which means that the user will be in this role on all projects that they are a member of. To maintain project level roles only, remove the user from the account role.
Users can be placed in different roles across different projects. Modifying project role associations allows you to change the project roles that a user is a member of or change a user's project membership.
Remember, a user must be a member of the project for project roles to take effect. For instructions, see Add Users to Projects.
