Plan Room Settings Page

Document custom fields and document types must be defined before the plan room settings can be configured. This phase of the setup involves defining relationships between documents, so that they display in the appropriate sections of the plan room and facilitate ease of access.

Fields and Buttons

The fields and buttons located on this page are:

  • Menu Custom Field: Click this drop-down arrow to select a custom field to assign. Each custom field renders a different set of tabs, per options defined in the document custom fields. For more information, see Define Document Custom Fields.

  • Relationship Folder Path: Click the Lookup button to select a folder path in the e-Builder Documents Library where relationship documents will be stored. Relationship documents provide the mappings that the system reads in order to make the proper file associations. When the plan room loads for a project it will look for the relationship documents in this folder path.
  • Download Relationship Template: Click this link to download the relationship template. This Microsoft Excel® template is used to define relationships between documents. Save all relationship files in the designated relationship folder path.
  • Plan Room Access Default: This feature allows you to set a default level of access to the Plan Room for all new projects. If an option other than None is selected, the Plan Room will automatically be enabled on all new projects with the level of access you've selected here. If you choose not to default this setting, administrators will be able to define project access for individual projects at a time. For instructions, see Define Project Access. The following options are available:
    • None: This option restricts user access to the Plan Room.
    • Internal: This option limits plan room access only to those users who can access e-Builder. If this option is selected, users will only to able to access the plan room through e-Builder; a URL will not be generated.
    • Public: This option automatically generates a URL from which users can access the plan room. After changes are saved, this URL displays in the External Plan Room URL field located on this page.
  • Tabs: These tabs are document custom field options of the custom field selected in the Menu Custom Field drop-down located toward the top of this page. The values for these tabs are defined in the document custom field settings. For more information, see Define Document Custom Fields.
  • Enabled: Select this check box to enable the menu custom field in the plan room. If this check box is not selected, the menu custom field will not display in the plan room.
  • (Jump To) Document Custom Field: Jump to categories allow you to quickly and easily jump to documents of the same custom field options. Click each Document Custom Field drop-down list in this section to define the three jump to menus that will display in the plan room viewer. For more information, see About the Plan Room - Figure 2.
  • (Groupings ) Document Custom Field: Groupings are the hierarchy in which files are sorted when users log in to the plan room. Groupings help users view the listing of files in a meaningful way that can help them get to the file they need to view faster. Click each Document Custom Field drop-down list in this section to define the document groupings.
  • Define Relationships Section: In this section you are able to define relationships between the document custom field options. These settings affect the Related [Document Type] section located in the left navigation pane of the plan room viewer. For more information, see About the Plan Room - Figure 2.
  • Enabled: Select these check boxes to make these options visible in the navigation pane of plan room viewer. For more information, see About the Plan Room - Figure 2.
  • Linked To: These fields auto-populate the custom field options (the tabs located across the middle of the page).
  • Name in Plan Room: This field auto-populates the word Related in front of each custom field option name. These fields pull the related files that display in the navigation pane of the plan room viewer. For more information, see About the Plan Room - Figure 2.
  • File Name: This field auto-populates the Microsoft Excel file name of the relationship document.
