Funding categories give context to funding sources and groups them based on similar attributes. Funding categories can be used in a number of ways to best suit the needs of your organization. If grouped by intent, your categories might mirror eventual contracts such as fees, design costs, contracts, etc. If used in this manner and project managers are not familiar with the different funding sources, simply knowing the intent of funds will allow them to choose the correct category.
