Home Page

The Home page or the advanced reporting landing page offers you the first look at the advanced reporting tool. Here you can access tutorials, sample reports and dashboards and other features you need to get started.

To access the advanced reporting home page

  1. Click Reports. The Reports landing page is displayed.
  2. Click Advanced reporting. The advanced reporting Home page is displayed.

To access the Getting Started tutorial

  • On the Getting Started Tutorial section of the Home page, click Start Here under Dashboards.
    The Getting Started view is displayed.

Some advanced capabilities mentioned in the video tutorials may not be available for the Trimble Unity Construct version so do not hesitate to email Support if you have any questions.

The advanced reporting Home page includes the following areas:

Main Menu

Click the first icon on the bar on the left side of the Home page to access the main menu. From this menu, you can switch projects, create and open items, edit your user profile, and perform other main functions.

This menu is available even after you create or open an item so that you can continue using it the same way as you work.

The main menu includes the following items:

  • Search: Search through all types of items in all projects. Hover over a search result to see its location.
  • Home: See a list of recently opened items as well as available dashboards, reports, and other views. Click each available item to open it. These are displayed by default as tiles with thumbnail preview images and organized by folder. As you scroll, the breadcrumbs displayed above will update and you can click on a folder in the path to scroll back to the top of that section.
  • Projects: See all projects assigned and shared with you. The 3 default projects are:
    • My Project: Use this to access your personal sandbox.
    • <GLOBAL>: Use this to access your organisation’s main project.
    • Getting Started Tutorial: Use this to view sample reports, videos and learn more about the tool.
  • Data: Create or open different types of files within the current project by choosing between data connectors and data cubes. This option is only available for Administrators.
  • Business: Create business definitions like metric sets and hierarchies. This option is only available for Administrators.
  • Views: Access dashboards and reports that are already built in the Advanced Reporting tool or to create new ones from scratch.
  • Help: Open the third-party tool help documentation for the current page in a new window.
  • Profile: Set your default landing page, like Dashboards or Reports. We recommend that you keep other profile settings as they are for now.

    Do not click Logout here as it may require you to log out of the main app to regain access.

Account Admins will see more options than regular users.

Quick Actions Menu

On the Home page, click the arrow icon in the top-left next to the Welcome message to access a list of available quick actions.
The quick actions menu includes the following items:

  • Explore Data: Click to open a new workspace where you can start exploring, analyzing and building visualizations for your data.
  • New Dashboard: Click to create interactive pages with data.
  • New Report: Click to create printable paged data documents.
  • New Slideshow: Click to display other views in sequence or export them together in one file.
  • New Metric Set: Click to create stunning visuals from data.
  • New Hierarchy: Click to organize data into levels for grouping and drill down.
  • New Data Cube: Click to configure and enhance your data.
  • Customize This Page: Click to customize which items are displayed on your home page by hiding/ showing views. To change your home page to a dashboard or another view edit your profile instead. Click Finish Customizing on the Quick Actions Menu when you are done with your changes.

Project

The Home page initially shows all the views you can access but may change as you switch between projects.

To change the project

  • On the Home page, select an individual project from the Project filter in the top-right corner, or choose All Projects.

List Mode

You can switch between displaying items as tiles or items as a more detailed list using the icons near the top-right of the page.

When shown as a list, details such as created by, created date, and modified date information will be included.

Thumbnails

If you created a view that has never been checked in, it may appear here with only an icon and no preview image of the content itself. Once the view is checked in so that other users can see it, a 'thumbnail' preview image of the view is generated and shown on the corresponding tile.

Recently Viewed

At the bottom of the Home page, the expandable Recently Viewed section allows you to quickly access dashboards, metric sets, data cubes, and other items that you opened recently.

You can perform the following actions on the advanced reporting Home page:

  • Search: Enter a search term to further limit the views shown.
  • Favorite: Hover over the view and click the star icon in the top left corner to pin a view to the top (as a separate Favorites group).
  • Hide: Click Customize This Page on the Quick Actions Menu and then click the hide icon in the top-left corner of a view to remove it from the home page. Removed views are moved to a Hidden group listed only when customizing the home page, where you can click the icon in a view's top-left corner to show it again.
