Create / Assign Unique Project Custom Field

A unique string-type project custom field is required in order to make an association between the project and Master Commitment Line Items and/or the Account Level Funding. This must be a unique custom field.

Instructions for creating and assigning this custom field are below.

To create a unique, string-type project custom field

  1. From the top navigation tabs, click the Setup tab or from the Utility menu by clicking the drop-down arrow next to your user name.
  2. If the Setup tab is not visible, click Access the Setup Tab, and then select the Setup check box.

  3. In the Administration Tools section, click Global Custom Fields.
  4. Click Add Field.
  5. Select Project then Next.
  6. Select String then Next.
  7. Complete all necessary fields including:
    1. Enter a name for this custom field, such as Project ID
    2. To make this field unique, select the Do not allow duplicates check box.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Save.

To assign the custom field to account cost settings

  1. From the top navigation tabs, click the Setup tab or from the Utility menu by clicking the drop-down arrow next to your user name.
  2. If the Setup tab is not visible, click Access the Setup Tab, and then select the Setup check box.

  3. In the Administration Tools section, click Cost.
  4. Click Cost Settings.
  5. Click the Account Cost Settings tab
  6. In the Miscellaneous Settings section, click the Account Level Cost Association To Projects drop-down menu and select the unique project custom field.
