Trimble Unity Construct Support Lifecycle FAQ
Learn more about what the new Support Lifecycle means and how it may impact you.
The Support Lifecycle

The Trimble Unity Construct Support Lifecycle is a guideline for the ongoing support of Trimble Unity Construct modules as new modules or features are released and supersede previous versions. This guideline is the foundation for policies governing the transition from active offerings to the End of Support phase.

Trimble Unity Construct technology is constantly upgraded to improve experience, performance and functionality. New modules, add-ons and tooling are developed and may supersede the older capability. These are more significant changes than a typical upgrade. In an effort to allow subscribers the flexibility to choose when and how to “upgrade", these new features may be offered separately as opposed to a “forced” or “imposed” upgrade.
However, there comes a point when a cutover must take place. The Lifecycle Policy ensures there is rigor when making these decisions, integrity in the communication process, and appropriate time to plan a transition through all necessary actions.
New Trimble Unity Construct Enterprise Modules

Not immediately. Eventually, support for the impacted module or feature will be discontinued. It is your choice to determine when it is right for your organization within the timeframes provided.

Trimble Unity Construct modules are built to solve a certain set of business problems, as opposed to providing a specific set of buttons, links, fields, etc.
Some new modules may not solve the same set of business problems. In these instances, Trimble Unity Construct may maintain modules in parallel for a period of time. The module will not be transitioned into the Maintenance phase until the new module is satisfying the intended business problems.

Where applicable, any new features that are released with the option to upgrade can be “turned on” by contacting Trimble Support or your Account Manager. Keep in mind that there may be instances where there are additional costs or fees associated with the alternative option.
Your Trimble Unity Construct Enterprise Instance

Trimble makes every effort to evaluate the impact of lifecycle decisions on our customers. We use a framework for proactively assessing the customer landscape and known integrations. However, for security, privacy, and business reasons, we cannot guarantee that your customizations will work exactly as it might today.
The lifecycle announcement process and staged milestones should reflect the level of customer complexity expected with the module retirement. If you have any questions, reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM) to discuss your concerns.

Your data is not lost.
General

Instead of maintaining two different experiences, we phase out support so that we can focus our efforts on enhancing new features at a faster pace.

Yes! An advance written notice is sent to system administrators at each lifecycle phase transition, and approximately 12 months before end-of-service, with periodic reminders. There may be a recommended migration approach that you should discuss with your Account Manager. There will be uninterrupted support and continued support for “classic” modules until the end-of-service date.
We appreciate your patience as we continue to dedicate ourselves to delivering functionality that provides the most value to our customers. If you have any further questions regarding the Trimble Unity Construct Support Lifecycle, please contact your Account Manager.
